Jones graduates JIU students
Jones International University, the distance education brainchild of cable pioneer Glenn Jones, graduated more than 120 students this morning during a "virtual" commencement ceremony. U.S. Librarian of Congress Dr. James Billington delivered the commencement address.
JIU awarded degrees to students (from eight countries and 30 states) in six undergraduate and graduate programs tied to segments such as business, education and information technology.
Jones founded JIU in 1993. In 1999, JIU became the first fully online university to receive regional accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. Today's graduating class marks the ninth for JIU.
