Cox pitches baseball to modem subs
Cox Communications is offering high-speed subs discounted monthly subscriptions to MLB.com All-Access and in-market streaming of San Diego Padres games.
The deal, inked between Cox, the Padres and MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), will give broadband subs access to more than 2,300 game video feeds as well as audio of home, away and foreign feeds of every MLB game played. Standard local blackout restrictions will not apply to the broadband product.
Subs who take the offer can get MLB.com All-Access for $14.95 per month, $5 off the regular fee.
"We are excited to be the first Major League club to offer fans the opportunity to watch in-market Webcasts of Padres games," said Steve Violetta, the Padres' EVP of business affairs. Cox also operates the regional sports network that carries Padres games (in standard- and high-definition).
