Insight Communications posted Q1 revenues of $269.3 million, up 13 percent year-over-year, thanks to healthy subscriber gains in high-speed Internet and digital video services.
In the quarter, Insight added 37,300 high-speed subs, giving it a total of 367,800. The operator added 7,700 digital subs, up 13 percent, ending the quarter with 459,000. Insight also signed up 4,300 telephony customers, extending the total to 68,600, a 9 percent penetration rate when compared to marketable homes passed.
Although DBS continued to reduce Insight's basic sub base (down 1,100 to 1,271,400), the MSO's basic cable service revenue rose 6 percent, primarily due to rate increases.
