Mexican MSO Cablemas S.A. will use a centralized switching platform from Cedar Point Communications to power a rollout of VoIP services.
Cablemas is deploying Cedar Point's flagship SAFARI C3 Media Switching System for an initial VoIP trial in Tijuana. The MSO hopes to expand service to more than 1.5 million homes passed in cities such as Juarez, Cancun, Mexicali and Cozumel.
Latin Broadband, a Cedar Point reseller, assisted in the deal.
Rather than a distributed approach, the centralized architecture of SAFARI C3 combines several PacketCable network elements, including the call management server, media gateway and record keeping server, in one device.
