Linksys has launched a line of modems and home networking gateways designed to handle Internet connections based on next-gen ADSL2+ technology.

The new line includes the Linksys Wireless-G ADSD2+ Gateway, ADSL2 Gateway with 4-Port Switch, and the ADSL2+ Modem.

Viewed as a platform for copper-based delivery of video services, ADSL2+ can pump out data at speeds up to 25 Mbps.

Linksys said its devices are backward compatible with ADSL1 and ADSL2.

Seeing more initial potential for the equipment outside the U.S., Linksys released pricing in British pounds. The wireless gateway sells for 119 GBP (US $223), the four-port gateway for 89 GBP (US $167), and the modem for 49 GBP (US $92).
