Shaw survey: Speed still key
Speed, and lots of it, continues to be a dominating factor even as cable modem services reach past the early adopter stage and into the mainstream, Shaw Cablesystems concluded in a recent consumer survey.
Seventy-two percent of respondents said speed was the most important element in their decision to select the Canadian MSO's Internet service, making it the most popular motivator mentioned.
The study, commissioned by Shaw and conducted in October by Ipsos-ASI, culled data from 1,341 Shaw subs who were recently new to the MSO's high-speed service.
Such data has also motivated Shaw to beef up its own offerings. The company's Xtreme-I tier caps download speeds at 5 Mbps.
