Millennium Digital Media has agreed to deploy gear and software from BigBand Networks to support the operator's rollout of DOCSIS 2.0 and IP-based data and voice services.

Millennium is installing the Cuda cable modem termination system (CMTS) and FastFlow Broadband Provisioning Manager, two elements BigBand obtained from ADC earlier this year. On the CMTS side, Millennium will use BigBand's flagship CMTS chassis, the Cuda12000, as well as its more compact model, the Cuda3000.

Millennium serves 130,000 subs in areas of Maryland, Michigan, Washington and Oregon.

"With BigBand Networks' integrated solution for CMTS and provisioning, we are able to fulfill subscriber demand with next-generation VoIP and data services on a budget and time frame that meet our needs," said Gil Nichols, Millennium's SVP of operations, in a release.
