Bravo HD+ gets new name, more programming
NBC Universal Cable said it will relaunch Bravo HD+ under the new name of Universal HD on Dec. 1.
The newly named channel will also fatten up its HD fare with programming from the NBC Universal library, including films such as Backdraft, Back to the Future, and Sea of Love, and made-for-TV series such as Sci-Fi's Battlestar Galactica, USA's The District and Monk, and US Open coverage.
"The extensive NBC Universal library allowed us to create the pre-eminent entertainment HD service," said Jeff Gaspin, president of NBC Universal Cable Entertainment and Cross-Network Strategy. "There is a lot of excitement around HD right now, and we wanted to be ahead of the curve with the highest-quality HD programming out there."
At relaunch, the programmer said the network will be available to more than 25 million subs served by DirecTV, Cablevision Systems Corp., Cox Communications, Insight Communications, Mediacom Communications and Voom, among others.
