There's no reason to revise retransmission consent rules because cable systems already are allowed to carry ABC affiliates on a standalone basis, Disney said in an ex parte filing at the FCC.
But Disney said an economic study showed a "fair market" value for the TV signals of more than $2 per subscriber per month, which is more than ABC seeks from cable systems.
Disney also said volume discounts are available for small cable operators through the National Cable TV Co-op, and that the popularity of Disney Channel as an expanded basic service, rather than a la carte, shows the benefit of cable packages.
