Video Without Boundaries Inc. has launched a retail-ready media center that comes equipped with an on-board DVD burner.

The company's MediaREADY 4000+RW box also sports a 120-gigabyte hard drive, broadband connectivity, and applications that enable users to browse the Internet, check e-mail and playback or display digital music and photos. The device carries a retail price of $599.

Cable set-top makers have also expressed plans to add DVD-recording elements. Motorola Broadband, for one, already offers a retail set-top with an on-board DVD player.
