Verizon has agreed to use the two-port Linksys Phone Adapter to support VoiceWing, a best-effort VoIP service that competes with services such as Vonage and AT&T CallVantage.

Linksys' adapter is designed to work with DSL or cable modem connections. Vonage and AT&T 's CallVantage also use Linksys gear to support their respective VoIP services.

On the product front, Linksys said it will begin shipping a line of dual-band 802.11 a+g products beginning next month. Products in that line include a broadband router, PC card for notebooks, PCI adapter for desktops and a USB adapter. Supporting up to 54 Mbps, the routers will house two radios operating in the 5.0 GHz and 2.4 GHz bands.

In other product news, Linksys also issues an 802.11g-based video camera for home and business security surveillance.
