OpenTV Inc. has signed a multi-year deal to license its middleware and other interactive television products and applications to corporate cousin UnitedGlobalCom Inc.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Both companies has corporate ties to Liberty Media Corp.

The agreement will enable UGC affiliates in Europe to deploy OpenTV's software. UGC is already using OpenTV products in France, and plans to convert all current and future UPC Direct DBS customers in Central and Eastern Europe to the OpenTV platform. UGC also plans to offer OpenTV's PlayJam and PlayMonteCarlo services in "certain" markets

"We look forward to the opportunity to further leverage our relationship to provide UGC and its affiliates with compelling interactive applications, from PlayJam and PlayMonteCarlo, to newly developed applications that will help to differentiate the viewing experience for their subscribers," said OpenTV Chairman and CEO Jim Chiddix, in a release.
