Comcast Cable and a handful of affiliate companies are teaming to offer on-demand access to a trove of college football game highlights, game summaries, and weekly coaches' shows from the ACC, Big Ten, MAC and SEC.

The joint effort involves Comcast Sports Southeast/Charter Sports Southeast, Comcast Local (a local net in Michigan), and the Comcast Media Center (CMC), which handles VOD content delivery for all of the MSO's on-demand-capable systems.

The collegiate effort "demonstrates the great potential of VOD technology and its value to cable viewers," said Gary Traver, the CMC's SVP and COO.

This fall, the CMC began offering similar on-demand access to NFL game summaries via a partnership with NFL Network.
