N2 Broadband integrates into Pioneer Passport
Looking to extend its video-on-demand technology reach, N2 Broadband Inc. is working to integrate its OpenStream platform into Pioneer digital set-tops that run the Motorola Broadband conditional access scheme.
By combining N2's system that can oversee VOD servers, applications and billing systems with Pioneer's set-top and Passport interactive programming guide, the two companies hope to offer an expanded choice to cable operators wanting to deploy or upgrade their VOD services. The two companies already have an OpenStream-compliant Passport version for boxes running on the Scientific-Atlanta Inc. conditional access system.
"Integrating Passport DCT with N2 Broadband's OpenStream platform is great news for everyone, combining OpenStream, one of the industry's most widely-deployed digital services platforms, with a proven interactive guide that is already in millions of homes," said Dan Ward, Pioneer's vice president of marketing and business development.
