Fox Entertainment Group Inc. has licensed additional satellite capacity from PanAmSat Corporation to distribute Fox Sports Net HD (FSN HD) and other future HD services.

Earlier this year, Fox signed a multi-year, multi-satellite, multi-transponder deal with PanAmSat, consolidating its entire suite of U.S. programming and much of its international traffic onto PanAmSat's global fleet. The additional capacity deal gives Fox two more transponders on the high in demand C-band platform of Galaxy 13.

Galaxy 13 is designed specifically for HD transmissions and is part of PanAmSat's "Power of Five" antenna program, which provides qualified cable operators with simultaneous access to five Galaxy neighborhood satellites. Besides Fox, other networks tapping the program include Cinemax, HBO, Encore, STARZ!, TNT, HDNet, HDNet Movies and Wealth TV.

"High definition is rapidly becoming the preferred choice of television viewing for Americans, and PanAmSat is proud to have the nation's first and leading HD neighborhood on Galaxy 13," said Joe Wright, the company's president and CEO, in a release.
