Cox to widen HD-DVR footprint
Cox Communications is preparing to expand the availability of set-tops from Scientific-Atlanta that offer both high-definition television and digital video recording capabilities.
Cox, which already markets the S-A Explorer 8010 HD box in San Diego, said it will also offer the model soon to digital customers in Gulf Coast and Gainesville, Fla.; Santa Barbara, Calif.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Oklahoma City, N.C.; and the MSO's North Carolina and Northern Virginia properties.
Cox will offer the HD-DVR service for $9.95 per month. Customers will also have to pay another $9.95 per month to lease the box.
"With HD-DVR, Cox offers customers two advanced video services without adding an additional box to their entertainment center," said David Pugliese, Cox's vice president of product and marketing management, in a release.
