AudioCodes Ltd. has introduced a new media gateway for VoIP deployment.
Dubbed the Mediant 3000, the gateway is for mid-density applications and supports from 480 to 4,032 voice channels and SONET/SDH optical interfaces. AudioCodes said the product will be offered in 1+0, 1+1 or 2+0 media gateway blade configurations, which contain the functionality of the stand-alone shelf controllers, Ethernet switches, voice-processing blades and interface cards typically used in large gateways.
"By offering a media gateway that minimizes common equipment yet offers rich functionality, AudioCodes is helping to significantly reduce the cost of deploying wireline, wireless and cable networks," said Rich Poole, the company's director of business development, in a release.
According to AudioCodes, the Mediant 3000 complies with standards in signaling and call control and supports an integrated SIGTRAN-compliant signaling gateway. The device also provides redundant PSTN, IP and ATM interfaces.
AudioCodes expects to test the product in customer trials in the third quarter of 2004.
