ADC sheds customer care, billing division

ADC continued to streamline itself Friday, agreeing to sell its customer care and billing software division to OSS vendor Intec Telecom Systems for $74.5 million. The deal should close sometime in the next 90 days, the companies said.

It marked the latest ADC unit to go to the highest bidder as part of a strategy to slim down and focus on its "core strengths." Last week, ADC inked a deal to sell its IP cable business, including its line of Cuda cable modem termination systems and service provisioning products, to BigBand Networks.

Under the latest deal, Intec will add about 600 ADC employees. Intec will also obtain ADC's Singl.eView customer care and billing platform, which accounted for about $35 million in sales and a loss of about $4 million in ADC's fiscal first quarter.
