Knology reports higher revenue, narrower loss
Embattled broadband overbuilder Knology Inc. had a strong first quarter, reporting revenue of $53.8 million, up 32 percent from a year ago and 18 percent higher than the previous period. The company also posted a Q1 net loss of $18.4 million, narrowed from a net loss of $20 million in the year-ago quarter.
On the service front, the company's total "connections" dropped by 1,131, giving it a total of 380,684. Those losses included "clean-up" activities in Pinellas County, Fla., including the removal of non-pay customers from prior periods, database cleanups and expired promotions.
Knology also ended the quarter with 75,220 high-speed customers, up from 55,000 a year ago, and saw telephone subs rise 6.5 percent to 126,914.
