KPY Networks, a Finnish ISP with about 12,000 broadband subs, has selected Sandvine 's technology platform to control and set policies for peer-to-peer traffic.

Sandvine estimates that P2P applications generate north of 70 percent of all residential Internet traffic in Finland. Because of that, KPY had seen a sharp spike in network costs.

"Sandvine's approach has allowed us to create traffic policies that minimize the cost of supporting file sharing traffic on our network whilst maintaining the best possible online experience for our subscribers," said Timo Hopponen, KPY's data network manager.
