Columbia-based MSO Cable Pacifico has inked a deal to deploy Cedar Point Communications' flagship SAFARI C3 platform to support the rollout of IP telephony services.

Cable Pacifico, which serves 38 cities in the West of Columbia, plans to use Cedar Point's gear to offer VoIP initially in the city of Medellin.

Taking a different approach than the distributed PacketCable architecture, Cedar Point combines several network elements, including the call management server, media gateway and media gateway controller, in one device.

Cedar Point has also inked recent deployment deals with Charter Communications and Ecuador's Grupo TVCable.
