Passengers of a Lufthansa flight next week will have an opportunity to be the first to try out Connexion by Boeing, the plane-maker's new high-speed Internet service.

The high-speed maiden flight (LH 452), set for May 17, will originate in Munich, Germany and set down in Los Angeles.

Passengers will be able to access the service via Lufthansa's "FlyNet" portal aboard the A340-300 aircraft. The service will cost $29.95 for the entire flight. A metered option costs $9.95 for 30 minutes, plus 25 cents per minute thereafter.

Lufthansa has installed the service on five aircraft so far. The airline plans to offer Connexion by Boeing an all of its long-haul routes from Munich and Frankfurt by 2006.
