Altice One, a cable corporation representing systems that pass more than 500,000 homes, will tap Net2Phone to fuel a plan to deploy IP telephony services in Europe.
Altice said it will leverage its existing networks to offer toll-quality VoIP service in Brussels, Belgium; Strasbourg and Mulhouse, France; and Luxembourg, using Net2Phone's turn-key cable telephony platform. Altice expects to deploy VoIP in those markets by the fall of 2004. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, Altice will maintain ownership of its telephony customers, use its brand and supply Tier I customer and technical support. In turn, Net2Phone will supply the service's back office, PacketCable infrastructure, and Tier II technical support.
