RadioShack goes satellite-exclusive with EchoStar and Sirius

RadioShack has inked a deal making EchoStar Communications' DISH Network and Sirius Satellite Radio as the lone "satellite entertainment brands" offered at the retailer's 7,000 stores.

In turn, EchoStar will market Sirius programming to most of its 9 million DBS customers. RadioShack will sell Sirius satellite radios and a variety of plug-and-play docking kits and boomboxes designed specifically for the service in mid-2004.

"We believe these partnerships will add tremendous value for all of our customers and provide our retailers with a sales tool that is complementary to satellite TV," said EchoStar Chairman and CEO Charlie Ergen, in a release.
