Kasenna Inc. has launched GuestRoom, a turnkey video-on-demand system for the hospitality and MDU (multiple-dwelling unit) market.

The platform centers on Kasenna's MediaBase XMP video delivery platform and pre-installed support for billing and a client interface for set-top boxes.

"Rather than handing resellers a streaming server and leaving all of the integration to them, we've built a turnkey system that is very easy for them to customize and brand for individual customers," said Kasenna President and CEO Mark Gray. "A VOD network is more than a bunch of servers."

On the deployment front, Kasenna said Georgia-based Insystcom Inc. will use the vendor's GigaBase media servers and MediaBase XMP software to support VOD deployments on Silver Seas and Oceania Cruise Lines ships. Under the deal, Kasenna's servers will support up to 1,200 cabins.
