CommScope Inc. has completed the acquisition of the Avaya Connectivity Solutions (ACS) for $250 million in cash and roughly 1.8 million shares of CommScope common stock. At close of business Jan. 30, those shares were valued at $32.8 million.
Under the deal, CommScope will also assume up to $65 million of specified liabilities, including those tied to employee benefits.
The acquisition will help CommScope expand on its "last mile" business. ACS designs, develops and manufactures enterprise structured cabling systems for Local Area Network applications.
Tied to the agreement, CommScope launched a Carrier Solutions division that will provide cabinets, cable and "apparatus solutions" to telecommunication service providers.
