TVN adds Paramount to PPV, VOD roster
TVN Entertainment has inked a long-term, non-exclusive deal to offer content from Paramount Pictures for pay-per-view and video-on-demand distribution.
The agreement gives TVN video-on-demand programming parity with InDemand. Both have secured distribution deals with all major studios except for Walt Disney Pictures, which is taking a direct consumer approach with a datacasting-based service dubbed MovieBeam.
The Paramount deal will give TVN access to new features such as School of Rock and Timeline, as well as a library of titles including An Officer and a Gentleman and the first six Star Trek films.
"We're pleased to expand our relationship with TVN and its affiliates into the VOD marketplace," said Jack Waterman, president of Paramount's Worldwide Pay TV division. "We are encouraged by TVN's commitment to providing consumers with legitimate and secure access to our product."
TVN has VOD distribution deals with MSOs such as Adelphia Communications, Charter Communications, Comcast Cable, Insight Communications and Mediacom Communications.
