Sony Corp. has inked a multi-year licensing deal with Gemstar-TV Guide International that will enable the CE giant to use Gemstar's interactive program guide (IPG) products in some digital products set for release in Japan.

Sony, which already offers Gemstar's "G-Guide" in its BDZ-S77 Blu-ray Disc recorder, will also embed it in the PSX, a new hardware platform that will contain a 120-Gigabyte hard drive, and TV tuning and DVD recording capabilities. Sony expects to launch the PSX initially to consumers in Japan.
