Scientific Atlanta Inc. unveiled products aimed at the voice and multi-room digital video recorder markets today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The Atlanta-based cable gear provider pulled the wraps off its new WebSTAR DPX2203 cable modem with an embedded media terminal adapter.

PacketCable 1.0 certified, the DPX2203 is aimed for VoIP service rollouts.

"As the demand from consumers for a complete bundle of services grows, the DPX2203 can help cable operators offer VoIP service which some market analysts forecast will grow to over 10 million North American subscribers by 2007," said Himanshu Parikh, vice president and general manager, in a release.

S-A also was showing off its Explorer 8300 Multi-Room DVR, which can share its DVR functions with as many as three other Explorer digital set-tops in the home. The set-top also can dole out shared interactive services including music, games, video on demand and subscription video on demand content.

Meanwhile, the new Explorer 8000HD High Definition DVR will sport a dual tuner for the first time, along with HD and surround sound capabilities.
