Pioneer bows wireless gateway

Motorola Broadband has unveiled the SURFboard SB5100, a cable modem based on CableLabs' advanced DOCSIS 2.0 specification. Powered by silicon from Broadcom Corp., the SB5100 incorporates the advanced physical layer schemes required under the upstream-widening DOCSIS 2.0 specification: A-TDMA and S-CDMA.


Mediacom grooms digital with BigBand

Mediacom Communications Corp. said it is deploying BigBand Networks Inc. 's Broadband Multimedia-Service-Router (BMR) for digital broadcast services in two states. Specifically, Mediacom, which serves about 1.6 million basic cable subs, is using the gear and BigBand's grooming application to gain more control of its digital programming line-ups in eight sites in Georgia and Illinois.

C-COR inks workforce software deal with Insight

nCUBE Corp. has inked a multi-million dollar contract with Adlink, the Los Angeles Digital Cable Interconnect, to deploy the vendor's Digital Ad Insertion system.
