Brix Networks has launched a new service assurance platform for cable networks designed to help operators monitor the quality of their voice, video and high-speed data services.

The new "BrixWorx for Cable" system enables operators to constantly monitor the quality and operation of those services along with the overall performance of their IP backbone networks. Those abilities can lower operating expenses, reduce subscriber churn and generate additional revenue, the company said.

The new product "further signals our intent to aggressively bring the proven capabilities of our service assurance solutions from the telecom market to operators of cable networks," said company President and CEO Tom Pincince.

Cox Communications is among an initial group of cable MSOs to deploy the Brix platform.

The cable-centric Brix platform provides support for the H.323 and SIP VoIP signaling standards as well as PacketCable's Media Gateway Control Protocol and the Network-based Call Signaling specification.
