The Cable Center has created the "Vendor and Operator Executive Advisory Forum," a group that aims to promote industry innovation by opening up the line of communication between operators and vendors.

YAS Broadband Ventures CEO Rouzbeh Yassini — a former CED "Man of the Year" known within industry circles as the "father" of the cable modem — will chair the Forum.

The group's first advisory council meeting is slated for Oct. 15 at the Denver-based Cable Center in conjunction with the Cable Television Hall of Fame event on Oct. 14. The Forum's first bi-Annual CTO roundtable is scheduled for the first quarter of 2004.

"Leading the industry vision for one network with multiple voice, data and video services is more important to vendors and MSOs than ever," Yassini said, in a statement. "Now is the perfect time to bring CEOs and executives from vendor companies and the cable industry together at The Cable Center to map a strong, growing future for all."

The Forum's advisory council is comprised of the following members:

David Fellows, CTO of Comcast Cable;

Jim Chiddix, president of MystroTV;

Bill Riker, CTO of The Cable Center;

Dallas Clement, senior vice president of Cox Communications;

Mark Coblitz, senior vice president of Comcast Corp.;

Chris Lammers, COO of CableLabs;

Marwan Fawaz, CTO of Adelphia Communications;

Chris Bowick, CTO of Cox Communications;

Wayne Davis, senior vice president of engineering and technical operations for Charter Communications;

Mike LaJoie, executive vice president, advanced technology for Time Warner Cable;

and Sudhir Isphani, CTO of UPC.

The Council eventually will add five more CEOs and CTOs, The Cable Center said.

Forum participation benefits include two company representatives in the CTO roundtables and in the "Vendor Executive Briefing," the first to be held sometime next year, a 50 percent discount over standard corporate rates for a one-time use of the Center's meeting and event space, and complimentary one-day use of the Center's Demonstration Forum for use with clients, analysts and the media.
