Arris said it scored a five-year, $25 million deal to provide primary-line broadband telephony equipment to Alaska-based GCI Communications Corp.

Under terms of the agreement, Arris will provide GCI with as many as 18 DOCSIS 1.1-qualified C4 cable modem termination systems and up to 63,000 home-side Touchstone telephony ports.

"We are pleased to be able to provide our customers with competitive digital local service utilizing our cable plant to deliver voice, video and data services," said Jimmy Sipes, vice president of network development of GCI.

GCI's cable networks pass 90 percent of Alaska's households.
