CableNet set to return
CableNet, a technology showcase that has become a Western Cable Show fixture, will return for an eleventh year.
Themed "imagine that," the 2003 version of CableNet will provide attendees "with a look into cable's digital future," said officials from California Cable & Telecommunications Association (CCTA) and CableLabs — CableNet's co-producers.
That "look" will include interactive demonstrations of new broadband services. Past CableNETs have given show-goers a future glimpse at video-on-demand, high-speed data and voice-over-IP.
"We have introduced many exciting new technology at The Western Show and look forward to unveiling a few more this year," said CableLabs President and CEO Dr. Richard Green, in a press release.
CableLabs said it will issue RFPs (requests for proposals) for CableNET on May 1. Fifty-three companies participated in the 2002 version.
The Western Show will run Dec. 2–5 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
