DAQTron announces release of DOCSIS 2.0 PHY test automation
Broadband test gear maker DAQTron, Inc. has unveiled test scripts for full automation of DOCSIS 2.0 physical layer testing.
DOCSIS 2.0, the latest version of the cable data specification, utilizes A-TDMA (Advanced Time Division Multiple Access) and S-CDMA (Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) advanced physical layer technologies to enable as much as three times the maximum upstream throughput of DOCSIS 1.1 with better immunity to noise interference. However, the inclusion of S-CDMA greatly increases test complexity, particularly in the physical layer.
The new test scripts complement those on the company's Jupiter 110/200 Cable Modem/CMTS Design Verification System. In addition to the capability to test both A-TDMA and S-CDMA, the test scripts also incorporate the ability to use the National Instruments PXI-5660 RF Signal Analyzer. This results in equal or better measurement accuracies, typical speed improvements of 20 times or greater, and cost reduction of more than 50 percent.
The Jupiter 110/200 tests all areas of the DOCSIS specification for both cable modem and CMTS development. The system can also be configured to test only basic physical layer tests or the full set of physical layer tests with upstream and downstream impairments.
