Convergys adds integration with ICOMS 5.0

With the pressure on to squeeze more and more operational efficiencies out of current networks, the latest release of the Convergys ICOMS billing and customer care system adds extra layers of integration and new support for the transaction-based services operators are anxious to offer.

Convergys said ICOMS Release 5.0 integrates the company's Geneva rating engine for application with Internet telephony, and also includes new business process tools with enhanced support for new transaction-based types of services. Both Internet telephony and tiered service pricing appear to be on operators' wish lists for next year, and the new ICOMS version aims to allow them to continue that migration over their current back office and billing platforms.

In addition, ICOMS 5.0 touts improved communication between provisioning and activation systems. The new version of the software platform helps to automate the handoff of information between ICOM's Provisioning Transaction Manager (PTM) and the Convergys Activation Manager, allowing for quicker activation of new services along the network. Other improvements in ICOMS 5.0 include enhanced customer statements, hierarchical billing for the operator, and support for remote provisioning and activation of new services.
