Fans of the National Basketball Association will see more NBA content online this year, and much of it will be available through RealNetworks ' RealOne player, it was announced.
NBA Commissioner David Stern unveiled online programming packages under the brand NBA Inside Ticket on NBA.com, a multimedia subscription service featuring NBA games, highlights, analysis and features. Part of the deal is an expansion of the NBA's relationship with RealNetworks, whose RealOne SuperPass service today counts more than 850,000 paid subscribers.
Fans will have the option of three subscription packages. The basic NBA Inside Ticket will cost $9.95 per month and include audio play-by-play of every NBA game, high-bandwidth video highlights, in-depth text analysis of games, as well as other feature content produced by the NBA.
Another option allows subscribers to access NBA content through the RealOne SuperPass, also for a monthly fee of $9.95 per month. SuperPass subscribers will be able to watch NBA league and team press conferences throughout the season, in addition to daily video highlights and the audio play-by-play of each game as well.
Subscribers to the SuperPass already have access to content from ABC News, CNN, FOXSports and NASCAR as part of their subscription.
The third option announced is a combination of the NBA Inside Ticket with the RealOne SuperPass, and it will cost users $14.95 a month for the combined service.
