With the majority of the North American broadband market on its customer list, BroadJump Inc. continues to eye international opportunities. The latest: the company has signed up its first customer in Latin America.

Telmex is turning to the provisioning software provider as it embraces adoption of customer self-installation technology and the reduction in truck rolls to provision new broadband services. Telmex has more than 13.9 million lines in service and 1.9 million data transmission-enabled lines in Mexico.

"BroadJump's expansion into Latin America is a key milestone for the company as we broaden our international scope beyond North America," chief operating officer Kenny Van Zant said in a statement. According to recent numbers from the software provider, in the first quarter of 2002, BroadJump software was responsible for activating 69 percent of all new high-speed Internet connections in North America. BroadJump also has customers in Canada and Europe. In June, the company reported it had enabled the activation of close to 5 million residential broadband subscribers.
