ADC CMTS wins DOCSIS 1.1 qualification
After further testing following the end of certification wave 21, CableLabs has granted DOCSIS 1.1 qualification to ADC Telecommunications' Cuda 12000 IP Access Switch/cable modem termination system.
The Cuda 12000 is also qualified for DOCSIS 1.0. The enhanced 1.1 spec calls for enhanced quality of service elements for tiered data services and packet-based applications such as IP telephony, and serves as the underpinnings of CableLabs' PacketCable infrastructure. Cox Communications and Callahan's Germany-based Kabel NRW are among the MSOs to deploy ADC's next-gen CMTS.
The Cuda 12000 is the second CMTS to get a late nod for DOCSIS 1.1. CableLabs also awarded 1.1 qualification to Cisco Systems' uBR7246 CMTS weeks after the conclusion of wave 20.
In addition to Cisco and ADC, Arris' C4 and Cornerstone CMTS 1500 and Riverstone Networks' RS8600 also have gained DOCSIS 1.1 qualification.
CableLabs kicked off certification wave 22 today, with results expected on or around June 20.
