Motorola acquires Synchronous; Centillium appoints VP/CFO

Motorola Inc. closed its acquisition of San Jose-based Synchronous Inc., a fiber optic transmission systems provider, in a stock-for-stock deal. Synchronous' business and staff will integrate into Motorola Broadband Communications Sector's Transmission Network Systems business, and its products will become part of Motorola's OmniStar GX-2 headend and hub optics platform, Motorola says. The company also will support existing Synchronous platforms and its North American customers. …

Centillium Communications Inc. appointed Darrel Slack as VP and CFO. Slack has been interim CFO since September and has been with the company since May 2000 as director of business development. He was an investment banker with Credit Suisse First Boston. …
