The new level's benefits include preferred referrals to network operators, Liberate internal information on software APIs and a shot at applying for development funding. The company says its customers use its products in the MMDS 2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz, UNII and LMDS bands. Shanghai Cable Network Co. Ltd. will use Vignette Corp. content management and aggregation systems in SCN's broadband portal site. Cisco Systems Inc. launched the Cisco IP Telephony Support Specialist certification to address an increasing demand for skilled network pros to plan, launch and support Cisco's advanced IP telephony network systems. The certification will cover such areas as Cisco voice over frame relay, ATM and IP for launching and supporting data and voice integration solutions at the network-access level, and deploying QoS, the company says. …

Tellabs closed its $355 million, cash-and-stock acquisition of Ocular Networks, adding three products to its line of digital cross-connect and transport switching systems. The purchase fostered the Tellabs 6400 transport switch, formerly the Ocular OSX-6000; the Tellabs 6410 transport edge node, formerly Ocular's OSX-1000; and the 6490 element manager, formerly the Ocular MetroWatch. …
