Cisco routers connect China; Cox/Level 3 ink network deal

Cox Communications will use CrossRoads Internet access and Center Co-location services from Level 3 Communications Inc. in its national IP network, including connecting its subscribers to the Internet, other networks and content providers. Cox also will use Level 3's OC-48 Link Private Line and metropolitan dark fiber services to connect its regional data centers and metro fiber optic networks to the Level 3 network. …

Pace Micro Technology announced a digital TV adapter that lets consumers receive digital channels for about $143 (U.S. dollars). The product should help accelerate digital TV adoption in the United Kingdom and will be available March 30, Pace says. The adapter is off-the-shelf and self-installed. …

US Signal expanded its fiber optic network into Chicago, Indianapolis and Milwaukee. The growth adds 185 metro route miles of fiber that includes 24 central offices in the markets, US Signal says. The company's network now includes 100 central offices, about 700 route miles of metro rings around 14 markets in three tiers, it says. It also has about 2,000 miles of long-haul fiber connecting the metro rings. …

Cisco System Inc. will supply its 12000 Series Internet routers and Dynamic Packet Transport to Hangzhou Netcom Information Harbor for its network in China. As backbone equipment for the metro area network, the deal will supply a network supporting about 1.5 million users. …
