BroadJump/Support joint software lands third customer
BroadJump Inc. says SBC Communications Inc. will supplement its DSL service with the newly debuted Broadband Resolution Suite that BroadJump launched with Support.com Inc.
SBC is the product's third customer, a spokeswoman says.
In early December, BroadJump and Support.com teamed on a joint product and marketing deal, under which the two are producing the Broadband Resolution Suite, combining BroadJump's installation and connection management technology with Support.com's Resolution Suites platform. Charter Communications marked the product's first customer.
By the end of December, the product had another taker, when Cox Communications picked it for its cable modem service. The purchase would let Cox subscribers use point-and-click self-service capabilities — with an assisted service — starting with installation. Cox has more than 780,000 cable modem subscribers.
As part of the SBC deal, BroadJump says SBC will deploy its Virtual Truck Qualifier, allowing SBC to validate a potential subscriber's PC configuration before he or she signs up for service. The product is designed to streamline the order and self-installation processes and eliminate the need for truck rolls.
BroadJump spokeswoman Jenny Allaire would not comment on the financial terms of any of the deals, but says the partnership with Support.com is key to the company's strategy and "a top priority for us."
