Astound picks WorldGate to push iTV
Overbuilder Astound Broadband (a.k.a. Seren Innovations) inked a deal with WorldGate to offer interactive television services to customers by the first quarter of this year.
The new service, dubbed "Astound iTV," will enable customers to surf the Web, access local content and send and receive e-mail via their televisions. Astound, a division of Xcel Energy Inc., said it will offer the iTV service to its digital customers, which make up more than 60 percent of the company's subscriber base. Astound offers broadband services in the Minnesota cities of St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, St. Joseph and Waite Park, and in Concord, Calif.
