High Speed Access Corp. said Louisville, Ky.-based Express Technologies Inc. has agreed to buy "certain assets" of Digital Chainsaw, HSA's Web-hosting unit, for an undisclosed sum.

For HSA, the deal removes yet another piece of its Internet service portfolio. Earlier this year, the company agreed to sell "substantially all" of its assets to corporate cousin Charter Communications for $81.1 million.

In August, HSA disclosed plans to shed expenses and focus on business elements that the company believed to have near-term profit potential. As part of that plan, HSA also has decided not to pursue the marketing and support of digital subscriber line services.

Digital Chainsaw today serves about 6,000 customers. Those customers will be folded into the base of Express Technologies, a company that specializes in Web hosting services for small- and medium-sized businesses.

Denver-based Daniels & Associates represented Express Technologies in the deal.
