Concurrent Computer Corp. crafted two new deals for its MediaHawk Broadband VOD System, it reports. Blue Ridge Communications will use the system on the Scientific-Atlanta digital cable platform and Mediacom Communications Corp. will use it on Motorola's DCT-2000.

Blue Ridge plans plans its first deployment early next year, with VOD services rolled out during through 2002 to customers in Stroudsburg, Ephrata, Lehighton and other Northeast Pennsylvania communities, Concurrent says.

Blue Ridge plans to provide movies on demand, SVOD and other interactive services, it says.

Mediacom also plans to offer digital VOD with pause, rewind, fast-forward, and other interactive capabilities.

MediaHawk Broadband VOD systems uses the MediaHawk VOD system and the MediaHawk Video Server, which supports MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 digital video streams on HFC, DSL and IP-based transport networks. It also includes the BackOffice Business Management System.

Blue Ridge is a subsidiary of Pencor Services Inc., which supplies content and advertising services over cable TV and other venues.

Mediacom is the country's 8th largest cable TV operator, with systems passing about 2.6 million homes.

A Concurrent representative did not return calls by CEDaily's deadline.
