Three join Philips' CompanionTV program
Three companies have joined Philips Digital Networks' CompanionTV partnership program, the company reports.
The program, announced in September and operated via Philips' SoftWorks business group, sets up partnerships with iTV applications developers and infrastructure solution providers to make solutions for the multimedia home platform, a spokeswoman says.
London-based Entranet Ltd. will use Philips' Multimedia Home Platform technology to develop digital TV applications for financial services, including full banking, credit card and insurance applications, Philips says.
Markdorf, Germany-based TechniData AG will use Philips' MHP technology to develop digital TV applications for portal solutions and publishing technology.
And starzone GmbH will use the technology to develop its digital iTV service, dubbed content related iTV, which merges moving pictures with interactive functions.
The Digital Video Broadcasting consortium developed the Multimedia Home Platform, an emerging open standard that lets providers of digital content broadcast interactive digital video applications on all MHP-compliant hardware.
