Industry weighs in on quarterly results

Broadcom Corp. reported a net loss of 1.6 billion, or $6.36 a share, on net revenue of $213.6 million in its third quarter. The company's net loss was $14.1 million, or 6 cents a share, on net revenue of $319.2 million a year ago. The losses don't include one-time restructuring charges of $16 million and other costs of streamlining operations, it says. …

Tollgrade Communications reported revenue of $16 million in its third quarter, compared with $27.8 million a year ago. Net income fell dramatically to $2.1 million, or 16 cents a share, from $7.3 million, or 54 cents a share, a year ago. …

C-COR.net Corp. net sales dropped to $52.1 million in its first quarter, from $78.3 million a year ago. It also reported a $5.4 million net loss, or 17 cents a share, compared with net earnings of $5.8 million, or 17 cents a share, a year ago. …

Com21 Inc. saw its third-quarter revenue halved to $30.1 million from $60.6 million a year ago. But it also narrowed its net loss by more than half, to $10.7 million, or 39 cents a share, from $24.8 million, or $1.02 a share, a year ago. …

Nortel Networks showed a $3.5 billion net loss, or $1.08 a share, in its third quarter, compared with a net loss of $586 million, or 17 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue reached $3.7 billion, compared with $6.7 billion a year ago.
