EarthLink debuts on TWC systems in Central Florida
EarthLink Inc. launched on another Time Warner Cable system — this time, in central Florida. The two companies said at their Columbus, Ohio, debut in mid-September that plans included at least 20 more launches by the end of the year.
As of Oct. 25, when EarthLink launched on TWC systems in Northeast Ohio, the company had gained access to 6.4 million people via 11 TWC systems since Sept. 17.
The latest launch targets the Orlando area and TWC customers there. An EarthLink spokesman could not provide details on the number of TWC subscribers EarthLink would have access to, by CEDaily's deadline.
The Columbus debut on Sept. 17 reached 559,000 homes on TWC's system and set off a series of other launches.
On Sept. 26, it opened to TWC's 450,000-home Syracuse, N.Y., system. Oct. 4, it debuted to 760,000 households in TWC's Raleigh/Durham, N.C., service area. That same day, EarthLink launched to about 1.4 million homes in TWC's seven-county Tampa Bay service area.
EarthLink then opened Oct. 11 to TWC systems serving 600,000 in Cincinnati and 528,000 in Greensboro, N.C.; Oct. 16 to 525,000 homes in TWC's South Carolina system; Oct. 18 to 420,000 customers in TWC's Western Ohio division and 300,000 in Albany, N.Y.; and Oct. 22 to 474,000 homes in TWC' Rochester, N.Y., area. And on Oct. 25, it started service to about 386,000 homes in Northeast Ohio, covering Cleveland, Akron, Canton and surrounding areas.
As a result, AOL also launched on the Central Florida system.
