Cox Business Services completed installation of its Centrex services in the East Granby, Conn., school district. The company says the deal will save the district more than $5,000, or 43 percent, a year on phone and Internet charges.

Under the $12,000-a-year contract, Cox will supply telephone and Internet services to East Granby high, middle, Seymour and Carl Allgrove schools, and to the Board of Education.

Cox says 27 phone lines will be converted to the Cox Centrex Service, allowing the departments to communicate between other Centrex-hooked departments using four digit extensions, rather than seven-digit ones. The four-digit extension help avoid outside, per-minute call charges, Cox says.

Cox also will provide three data connections in the high schools and middle schools, board offices and Allgrove and Seymour schools.
